Daily Routines to Jump Start Math Class - High School

This webinar will provide short, engaging activities designed to activate student thinking at the very start of class. These routines promote reasoning, mathematical discourse, and a sense of community. They help shift students from passive to active learning modes by posing accessible yet thought-provoking prompts that connect to key math concepts. By making thinking visible and encouraging multiple solution paths, these routines support equity and student voice while building habits of mind essential for high school mathematical success.

This is the second of three webinars in our ICTM 25-26 Webinar Series.

The webinar will be held on Zoom on September 23 at 5:30 PM MST (4:30 PM PST). The Zoom link will be provided in the registration confirmation email.

More about our Webinar Speaker:

Dr. Eric Milou is a professor of mathematics at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. Dr. Milou has taught at Rowan for the past 28 years and served six terms as the President of the Rowan University Senate from 2007 to 2013. He previously served as President as the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey and the program chairperson of the 2007 NCTM annual meeting. His most recent book is Invigorating High School Math with Steve Leinwand (Heinemann) and is a co-author of NCTM’s Catalyzing Change in the Middle School. Moreover, he is co-author of the textbooks EnVisions 6-8 and A|G|A (Savvas). He was the recipient of the Max Sobel Outstanding Mathematics Educator Award in 2009. Dr. Milou earned his doctorate from Temple University in Mathematics Education, a Masters in Mathematics from West Chester University (PA), and a BA in Mathematics from Franklin & Marshall College (PA).
